Chad Covington- Barista

Chad says what’s up! Aside from his love for chocolate and coffee, he’s super passionate about this game called kendama. Chad and his brother started a brand of kendamas called Sol Kendamas in June of 2014. Outside of Chocolate Holler, he’s student at UK and spends the majority of his free time traveling for Sol Kendamas. He was born in Nashville, Tennessee, raised in Guthrie, Kentucky, and has been living in Lexington for just over 4 years now! Take some time to get to know him if you haven’t yet!

Two truths and a lie:

1. I’m a really good liar.

2. One time I was on a first date with this girl, and when the bill came at the end of dinner, I realized I had left my wallet at home. I ran outside to my brother’s car which I was driving at the time and scrounged up enough money for both of our meals and a tip. We ended up dating for a month or two after that.

3. On the last day of Senior year in high school, a group of friends and I successfully drove backwards through the KFC drive thru and placed our order. The people at KFC didn’t even say anything, and the food wasn’t any better having received it on the passenger side of the car.

Your Chipotle Order:

Burrito bowl to go, brown rice, black beans, chicken, add veggies, mild salsa, sour cream, no cheese, guacamole please, can I get a little more guacamole, lettuce, can I also get a little more lettuce? Yes that’s all, thank you so much! Oh actually can I get a bag of chips as well? Thank you. Yup, no drink! Okay, thank you!

Best memory of your time at the shop?

My best memories while working for Holler are always the staff hangouts/get togetherness after hours. I work with such amazing people!

What’s your favorite way to drink coffee?

My favorite way to drink coffee is in the form of a cappuccino.

Favorite dad joke?

My favorite dad joke goes something like this: “I’m hungry.” “I’m, Chad, it’s nice to meet you! [extends hand out]”

Best laugh goes to Sal, hands down. I love Sal’s laugh.
